RESTUMPING & REBLOCKINGHOUSE LEVELLING ASSESSMENTSBALLARAT, VICTORIA
WHAT NEEDS ATTENTION?

Restumping, reblocking or uneven floors?

Choose the closest description below, or use the form if you are not sure. A contractor needs to inspect before recommending work.

Old or damaged house stumps

If you already know some supports need replacing, ask about a full-house or substantial partial restump. Mention any earlier repairs you know about.

Floors that slope or feel uneven

Say which rooms are affected and whether the problem has changed. Levelling and replacing stumps are different recommendations; an inspection helps establish the cause.

Buying or renovating a house?

Mention your plans and any concern in a building report. You can ask about the supports before committing to new floors, a kitchen or other finishes.

AFTER YOU ENQUIRE

What happens next?

We review the enquiry first. If a suitable referral is available, the contractor discusses the inspection and any quote with you.

How enquiries work ↗
  1. 01

    Send the details you know

Name, contact method, suburb and what you have noticed. Extra house details are optional.

  2. 02

    We check the enquiry

We may need to ask a question or check whether a contractor can take the enquiry. A submitted form does not reserve an appointment.

  3. 03

    You decide whether to proceed

The provider discusses assessment, scope and fees directly. Sending an enquiry does not commit you to work.

BEFORE AGREEING TO WORK

Know what the quote includes.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you send the form.

Costs, inspection arrangements and who handles the work.

How much does restumping cost?

The price depends on the work found at inspection. Stump count, access, subfloor repairs, approvals and making good all affect the total. Ask for a written quote for your house.

Restumping cost and quote factors
How do I know if my house needs restumping?

Uneven floors, sticking doors or known stump deterioration are reasons to arrange an assessment. They do not prove that a full restump is needed.

Signs and support-replacement enquiries
Can just part of the house be restumped?

Sometimes. The practitioner needs to check whether deterioration is isolated and whether the remaining supports are sound before recommending partial replacement.

Full or partial restumping
Are restumping and reblocking the same thing?

Yes. In Victoria, both terms commonly describe replacing the supports beneath a house. The quote still needs to identify which supports, materials and related repairs are included.

Restumping and reblocking explained
Do I need a building permit for restumping?

Yes. The City of Ballarat lists restumping and reblocking as work requiring a building permit. Ask the building surveyor and contractor who arranges the approvals for your scope.

Permit and contractor checks
Who assesses the house and provides the quote?

An independent contractor, if a suitable referral is available. This website reviews enquiries only. Sending the form is free and does not book an inspection or commit you to work.
